I was there, and it was completely amazing. It was probably one of the best, and definitely the funniest, productions I’ve ever seen. Theresa, I can’t wait to see what happens next. It is your time to shine!

Excellent play. I was so overwhelmed with joy and laughter to see the words come to life in such a breathtaking experience. Thank you Theresa for making this all possible with your unselfish sharing of these short stories. I pray that God will continue to bless you with your gift of writing.
Dear Bennett Sister Theresa,
I’ve spent the past hour and a half reading from “alwaystheresa.com”! As a result, I’m refueled, relaxed, inspired, and smiling. . .
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
GOD BLESS YOU!

In our recent book club meeting, we just completed the book Anna May and the Preacher by Theresa Bennett Wilkes. This was absolutely one of the best reads that I have experienced in a long time. It is a collection of short stories that capture the reader from the beginning and hold you in anticipation and enjoyment right up until the last pages.
Theresa writes with the fluidity and composure that helps the reader to gain insight to the characters and to feel that you cannot put the book down until you finish the last page. It is a definite” read all night until you finish” book. The stories of women, their families and their relationships have a familiarity about them that encourages you to find yourself in many of the characters that you meet. There is a richness that is developed in these short stories that makes for a stimulating read without any shortchanging on the completeness of the writing, descriptors and emotions that develop in each story. The title story, Anna May and the Preacher, is one of the short stories included and is told from the dynamic and eyes of one who has had the experience of participating in trying to gain the eye of a favored gentleman. It is a story that is well known, well written and is reminiscent of so many personal experiences. In fact, all of the stories bring memories of people and experiences in your own life. It is one of many stories that will captivate the reader and leave you wanting more. Our book club was delighted by a visit from the author. Her own voice in the reading of some of the passages of the stories was one the most exhilarating gifts that a reader could enjoy. It is rare to meet the author, but even rarer to meet an author who can bring the book to life as Theresa did with each of the characters that she introduced us to. I laughed until I cried; and then I cried with sadness. Every story was an experience that evoked the gamut of feelings. I so very much appreciated this book of short stories. It is a truthful and poignant representation of the experiences of women, their families and their relationships. It is a must read for all women of all ages and also for the men who love them. Theresa, I couldn’t resist listening to your interview just now, even though I had work to do. Wow- you sounded so eloquent. Your voice has such a lovely, gracious quality. And you came across as a very experienced writer. Which you are, of course, but you definitely came across as knowledgeable and professional. Speaking your truth, very authentically. I love how you said that these were stories you had to tell, as the characters expressed themselves to and through you. I hope this prompted a rise in book sales and other interests, because I would expect that it would do so. I love that you are living your dream!

As is often the case as I drive home from work I happened to be exploring my preset radio stations, one of those being KPFA down here in the Central Valley. This was one of those days when i experience the joy in those accidental wanderings. I heard you talking about The Wedding and then heard you read a bit.
I arrived home 30 minutes later having bern throughly engulfed in another world. Thank you for sharing your talents, I look forward to reading your work.

Girl, if I get fired it will be all your fault. I opened your book while drinking my coffee this morning and did not even take my gown off all day until I finished the book. You are an awesome story teller with deep insight into what Sistahs do for love. You have got to do another and I want to follow Anna Mae….Love ya, Rev. Dr. Arnetta Beverly
