I have never been able to accept the two great laws of humanity – that you’re always being suppressed if you’re inspired and always being pushed into the corner if you’re exceptional. I won’t be cornered and I won’t stay suppressed.
Occasionally I’m queried regarding the origins of the topics I write about. “The Universe,” I reply. Ideas are inspired by thoughts, words, deeds, memories, epiphanies, and nature… Not everything I find appealing makes it into print, one of the realities with which an inditer must contend. There are subjects I’d love to explore but I can’t put an outline together much less draft an opening sentence. Some rubrics of interest to me have yet to solidify conceptually into something I can sink my teeth into. Since I began blogging and doing a newsletter, I’ve purposefully avoided overtly political material. Our environment is oversaturated with the literary inelegance of cranky, snarky, raucous voices whose jangling clashes drown each other out. Why wade into a crowded pool where competition has nothing to do with quality, substance, or thoughtful rumination? What I create can best be described as the result of metaphysical musings.
I’ve spent over twenty years as a freelance writer and author. I’ve enjoyed a marvelous and remarkable career. The irony of it all is it wasn’t planned. While organizing my parents’ golden wedding celebration, my mother encouraged me to consider becoming a writer and I flatly rejected her suggestion. I was indignant! Oh, yes, I vehemently disagreed with Mama… I couldn’t envision what she already understood. Interspersed with researching, organizing, developing, and writing material for clients I dabbled with composing fiction, which I’ve come to embrace as my passion… my calling. I produce a quarterly newsletter enabling me to satisfy my desire to write and share, primarily with other inditers, techniques, tips, and tools on the art of being a scribe. Writing for others, adhering to their requirements led to my decision to focus on fiction. I can say what I want the way I want and I cherish the independence.
I love writing; when I put pen to paper, I’m in my element and all is right with the world. Every opportunity to create enhances my skills and further hones my style. I cannot do justice to my source without taking a disciplined, open-minded approach to what I compose. I am a vessel and gratefully acknowledge my role in articulating concepts planted in my head, heart, and imagination. Truth be told, the Universe does a far better job of doling out assignments than I ever could. I am thankful for the abundance of possibilities. What I create can best be described as the result of metaphysical musings.
I take my passion for expository expression seriously. Creativity begins with what takes shape in the head, heart, and imagination. Artists are affected by what they see, hear, perceive, feel, and experience. The results of what they produce can best be described as metaphysical musings. Talent and genius are tangible manifestations of God. Inventiveness emanates from an innate yearning to sing the melodious harmonies of the soul. It defies conformity, and rightly so. Social media has opened the floodgates to atrocious forms of distortion, including perversion. Above and beyond incendiary, crude, banal, and offensive tweets and posts are crushing examples of illiteracy and ignorance which can only be described as utterly profane. Widespread use of text shorthand, symbols, acronyms, abbreviations, and inane clichés erode legitimate efforts to communicate prosaic and poetic desiderata. These seemingly undeveloped attempts underscore the importance of embracing ambition through self-discipline and commitment. Ultimately the incipient though ubiquitous presence of social media doesn’t pose an existential, or any other kind of threat to the magnificence of real art. Metaphysical musings, thankfully, aren’t within the purview of man. They can’t be suppressed, repressed, denied, forbidden, or banned.
The Universe will always find willing receptacles, people open to receiving gifts from the Creator they’re willing, eager even to share. The aspiring writer, for example, need only remain focused, disciplined, and productive. Inspiration is theirs for the asking and the results can best be described as the result of metaphysical musings.
